602 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Muṭarrif narrated to us; Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to us, from his father, who said:
ʿUmar owned only one horse. He asked, “Aslam, how much do you feed the horse each day?” I answered, “A farq of barley.” He responded, “What if we sent it to al-Naqīʿ and redirected that fodder to a Muslim household instead?” So he dispatched the horse to al-Naqīʿ and transferred its feed to the home of a Muslim family.
