600 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Muṣʿab ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Zubayrī narrated to us; Mālik—meaning Mālik ibn Anas—narrated to us, from Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah, that Anas ibn Mālik said:
“I once heard ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb speaking, so I accompanied him until he entered a walled garden. While he was inside and a wall stood between us, I heard him say, ‘ʿUmar, Commander of the Believers—bravo, bravo! By Allah, O son of al-Khaṭṭāb, either you will fear Allah or He will surely punish you.’”
٦٠٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَوْمًا وَخَرَجْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى دَخَلَ حَائِطًا، فَسَمِعْتُهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ، وَبَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ جِدَارٌ وَهُوَ فِي جَوْفِ الْحَائِطِ: «عُمَرُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ بَخٍ بَخٍ وَاللَّهِ بَنِي الْخَطَّابِ لَتَتَّقِيَنَّ اللَّهَ أَوْ لَيُعَذِّبَنَّكَ»
