Abd Allah narrated to us; he said: Abu Maʿmar related to me, saying: Ibn Abi Hazim narrated to us: A man once came to ʿAli ibn al-Ḥusayn—may Allah be pleased with him—and asked, “What standing did Abu Bakr and ʿUmar have with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him?” He replied, “Exactly the same standing they hold with him at this very hour.”
