Abdullah related to us—my father told me, and both Waki‘ and Abu Mu‘āwiyah, whose reports agree, transmitted the same—from al-A‘mash, from Sulaymān ibn Maysarah, from Ṭāriq ibn Shihāb, from Rāfi‘ ibn Abī Rāfi‘ al-Ṭā’ī, who said:
“I accompanied Abu Bakr on the expedition of Dhāt al-Salāsil. He had with him nothing but a cloak woven in Fadak; when he mounted his ride he simply let it drape over him, and when we dismounted he and I would both wrap ourselves in it.”
