552 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAbd Allah ibn Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq al-Adramī related to me; Mulbid ibn Isḥāq narrated to us; Ibn al-Mubārak transmitted, from ʿUbayd Allah ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb ibn Muḥammad al-Makkī, who said:

Luqman said to his son, “My dear child, keep the company of the scholars and crowd close to them, pressing your knees against theirs; for Allah—Exalted is He—revives hearts with the light of wisdom just as He revives the lifeless earth with the pouring rain from the sky.”
