ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Siyyar narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated to us; and Abu Habib al-Sulami related: “I found in the sayings of wisdom: Listen attentively to the questioner until he finishes speaking, then answer him with mercy. Be to the orphan like a compassionate father, and be a supporter of the one who is wronged, so that you may, perhaps, become a khalifah of Allah on His earth.”
