ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Hashim—meaning Ibn al-Qasim—narrated to us; Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Sayyar Abu al-Hakam, who said:

“It was asked of Luqman, ‘What is the source of your wisdom?’

He answered, ‘I refrain from asking about matters from which I have been spared, and I do not burden myself with that which does not concern me.’”
