534 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Yunus narrated to us; Ṣāliḥ informed us, from Abū ʿImrān al-Jawni, from Abū al-Jald, who said:
“I read in al-Ḥikmah (the Book of Wisdom):
Whoever allows his own soul to admonish him will find in Allah a protector;
whoever grants people the same fairness he claims for himself, Allah will thereby increase him in honor;
and humble submission in obedience to Allah is nearer to true dignity than seeking grandeur through disobedience.”
