530 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us. He said: I heard Mūsā al-Tartūsī say, “I heard ʿAlī ibn Khushram say, ‘I heard Bishr ibn al-Ḥārith remark: Ahmad ibn Hanbal went into the al-kīr (the smith’s furnace) and came out like glowing red gold.’ ʿAlī added: When Bishr’s statement reached Ahmad ibn Hanbal, he said, ‘Praise be to Allah, who has satisfied Bishr with what we have done.’"
