518 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us—my father narrated to me—ibn Atash narrated to us—Mundhir informed us, on the authority of Wahb:
“A wandering ascetic entered a village and learned that one of the village’s great men had died. He left at once, saying, ‘I will have no part in burying that tyrant.’ Afterwards he lay down and fell asleep. In his sleep a man came to him and said, ‘O so-and-so, do you control any share of Allah’s mercy?’ He replied, ‘No.’ The man asked the same question three times, and each time he answered, ‘No.’ Then the visitor said, ‘And what makes you so sure of what he may have done during this final illness of his?’”
