Report 52: ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to us; al-Haytham ibn Jamīl narrated to us; Muḥammad narrated to us, from Ibrāhīm ibn Maysarah, from ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr, who said:

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

“The first generations of this Ummah were set aright through renunciation and certainty, whereas the last of it will be destroyed by miserliness and prolonged hope.”
