490 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Khalaf ibn al-Walid narrated to us; Ibn ʿAyyash informed us; from Ṣadaqah ibn ʿAbd Allah al-Zubaydi, and others, from al-Muhajir ibn Ḥabib, who said:

“The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary—peace be upon him—used to say: ‘O company of disciples, do not pursue the dunya (worldly life) to the ruin of your own souls; rather, rescue your souls by forsaking what it holds. Naked you came, and naked you will depart. Do not seek the provision of tomorrow; today has been granted what it requires, and tomorrow will arrive with its own concerns. Therefore ask Allah to make your provision come to you day by day.’”
