484 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father conveyed to me; Ibn ʿAyyāsh, Ismāʿīl al-Ḥimṣī, reported from ʿAbd Allah ibn Dīnār al-Bahrānī, who said:
Jesus son of Mary—peace be upon him—said to the disciples:
“Live on barley bread and depart from this world safe and serene. Truly I tell you: the sweetness of this world is the bitterness of the Hereafter, and the bitterness you endure in this world is sweetness in the Hereafter. The servants of Allah are not those who pursue luxury.
Truly I tell you: the worst of you in deeds is a scholar who loves the world, giving it preference over his work for the Hereafter. If he could, he would make all people follow his own course.”
٤٨٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ إِسْمَاعِيلُ الْحِمْصِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ الْبَهْرَانِيِّ قَالَ: " قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ (عليه السلام) لِلْحَوَارِيِّينَ: عَلَيْكُمْ بِخُبْزِ الشَّعِيرِ، وَاخْرُجُوا مِنَ الدُّنْيَا سَالِمِينَ آمِنِينَ؛ بِحَقٍّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنَّ حَلَاوَةَ الدُّنْيَا مَرَارَةُ الْآخِرَةِ، وَإِنَّ مَرَارَةً فِي الدُّنْيَا حَلَاوَةٌ فِي الْآخِرَةِ، وَإِنَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ لَيْسُوا بِالْمُتَنَعِّمِينَ بِحَقٍّ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ: إِنَّ شَرَّكُمْ عَمَلًا عَالِمٌ يُحِبُّ الدُّنْيَا، فَيُؤْثِرُهَا عَلَى عَمَلِهِ إِنَّهُ لَوْ يَسْتَطِيعُ، جَعَلَ النَّاسَ كُلَّهُمْ فِي عَمَلِهِ مِثْلَهُ "
