479 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAbd Allah ibn Muhammad ibn Isḥāq al-Adramī narrated to us; Mulbid reported to us; Ibn al-Mubārak informed us, from Maʿmar, from ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd Allah, from ʿIkrimah, who said:
Jesus son of Mary, peace be upon him, said to the disciples: “O company of disciples, do not cast pearls before swine, for the swine can make no use of them. And do not give wisdom to one who does not desire it; for wisdom is worth more than pearls, while the one who has no wish for it is worse than the swine.”
٤٧٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الْأَذْرَمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُلْبِدٌ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ: " قَالَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ (عليه السلام) لِلْحَوَارِيِّينَ: يَا مَعْشَرَ الْحَوَارِيِّينَ، لَا تُلْقُوا اللُّؤْلُؤَ لِلْخِنْزِيرِ؛ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَصْنَعُ بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَلَا تُعْطُوا الْحِكْمَةَ مَنْ لَا يُرِيدُهَا؛ فَإِنَّ الْحِكْمَةَ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللُّؤْلُؤِ، وَمَنْ لَا يُرِيدُهَا أَشَرُّ مِنَ الْخِنْزِيرِ "
