Report 50: ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us; al-Thawrī informed us, through a man from Madinah, from Sālim, from Ibn ʿUmar, that the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—used to say in his supplication:
“O Allah, grant (me) a protection like the protection You give a newborn.”
That is, the newly born child.
٥٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ كَانَ يَقُولُ فِي دُعَائِهِ: «اللَّهُمَّ وَاقِيَةً كَوَاقِيَةِ الْوَلِيدِ» يَعْنِي: الْمَوْلُودَ
