- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Yaḥyā ibn Abī Bukayr informed us; Sulaymān ibn al-Mughīra narrated to us, from Thābit, who said:
“Jesus—peace be upon him—set out to visit a brother of his. On the way he was met by a man who said, ‘Your brother has passed away.’ So he turned back. When the deceased man’s daughters heard that he had turned away, they came to him and said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, your turning back from us is harder for us to bear than our father’s death.’
He said, ‘Come, show me his grave.’ They went with him until they pointed it out. Jesus then called to the man, and he emerged, his hair now grey. Jesus said, ‘Are you so-and-so?’ He replied, ‘Yes.’
Jesus asked, ‘What is this change I see in you?’ The man answered, ‘I heard your voice and thought it was the Blast (of the Trumpet).’
His wife, witnessing what had happened and hearing the exchange, exclaimed, ‘Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts that nursed you!’
Jesus said, ‘Blessed is the one to whom Allah teaches His Book, and who thereafter does not die as a jabbār (overbearing tyrant).’"}
