ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; Abū Bakr ibn ʿAwn al-Madīnī told me, saying, “I heard some of our companions relate that Allah revealed to David (peace be upon him): ‘I have placed the appetites on earth only for the weak among My servants; what business have the champions with them?’”
٤٦١ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَوْنٍ الْمَدِينِيُّ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ بَعْضَ أَصْحَابِنَا يَقُولُ: " أَوْحَى اللَّهُ – Exalté soit-Il – إِلَى دَاوُدَ (عليه السلام): «إِنَّمَا أَنْزَلْتُ الشَّهَوَاتِ فِي الْأَرْضِ، عَلَى الضُّعَفَاءِ مِنْ عِبَادِي، مَا لِلْأَبْطَالِ وَلَهَا؟»
