447 – ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Jarir narrated to us, from Qabus, from his father, from Ibn ʿAbbas—may Allah be pleased with him—who said:
Moses—peace be upon him—asked, “My Lord, which of Your servants is dearest to You?”
He replied, “The one who remembers Me the most.”
He then asked, “My Lord, which of Your servants is the richest?”
He replied, “The one who is content with what I have given him.”
He asked again, “My Lord, which of Your servants is the most judicious?”
He replied, “The one who passes judgment on himself by the same standard with which he judges other people.”
