Hadith 442: ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Sābiq narrated to us; Mālik—meaning Ibn Mighwal—narrated to us. He said: I heard Abū Yūsuf al-Ḥasan ibn Yazīd, from Hārūn, who said: the cousin of Ḥanẓalah related to me that Allah revealed to Moses, peace be upon him:
“Your people have adorned their mosques while laying waste to their hearts, and they have fattened themselves like swine readied for the day of slaughter. I beheld them and overturned them; therefore I will neither answer their prayers nor grant them what they seek.”
٤٤٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَابِقٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، يَعْنِي: ابْنَ مِغْوَلٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا يُوسُفَ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ هَارُونَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَمِّ حَنْظَلَةَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ – Exalté soit-Il – أَوْحَى إِلَى مُوسَى ﷺ: «إِنَّ قَوْمَكَ زَيَّنُوا مَسَاجِدَهُمْ، وَأَخْرَبُوا قُلُوبَهُمْ، وَتَسَمَّنُوا؛ كَمَا تُسَمَّنُ الْخَنَازِيرُ لِيَوْمِ ذَبْحِهَا، وَإِنِّي نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِمْ فَقَلَبْتُهُمْ؛ فَلَا أَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُمْ، وَلَا أُعْطِيهِمْ مَسْأَلَتَهُمْ»
