Hadith 438: ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; al-Hasan ibn al-Rabiʿ informed us; he said: “I heard Ibn al-Mubarak mention that he once asked Muhammad ibn al-Nadr al-Harithi in Wasit about fasting while traveling. He answered, ‘It is nothing but taking the initiative.’”
