- ʿAbd Allah related to us, my father narrated to me; Ibrahim ibn Khalid informed us; ʿUmar ibn ʿUbayd transmitted that he heard Wahb ibn Munabbih say:
“Allah—glorified and exalted be He—opened the heavens for Ezekiel until he gazed upon the Throne—or so it was said. Ezekiel exclaimed, ‘Glory be to You! How majestic You are, Lord!’ Allah replied, ‘The heavens and the earth have not the strength to bear Me, nor the breadth to contain Me; yet the heart of the God-fearing, gentle believer has contained Me.’”
