Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbd Allah related to us, saying, “My father narrated to me; Haitham ibn Harithah informed us; Ismaʿil ibn ʿAyyash transmitted from Sulayman ibn Sulaym, from Yahya ibn Jabir, from Yazid ibn Maysarah, who said:

“The food of John son of Zachariah—peace be upon him—was locusts and the pith of trees. He would say, ‘Who could be more blessed than you, O John? Your food is locusts and the pith of trees.’”
