419. ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Ismaʿil informed us; Yunus informed us, from al-Hasan, who said: The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, “May Allah have mercy on Joseph. Had it not been for that single utterance of his, he would not have remained in prison for as long as he did—namely, his words: ‘Mention me in the presence of your master’ (Quran 12:42).”

Al-Hasan would then weep and say, “As for us, whenever a predicament befalls us, we immediately turn to other people for relief.”
