Hadith 418: ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; he said, al-Layth ibn Khalid Abū Bakr al-Balkhī narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Thābit al-ʿAbdī narrated to us, from Mūsā ibn Abī Bakr, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, who said:
“When Abraham (peace be upon him) saw in a dream that he was to sacrifice Isaac, he set out with him from his residence to the place of sacrifice—a distance that would normally take a month’s travel—and covered it in a single morning. When the order to slaughter him was lifted and he was commanded to sacrifice the ram instead, he did so, and then returned with it to his home in one evening—another journey of a month’s distance. The valleys and mountains were made easy for him along the way.”
