- ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Shaybān narrated to us; Jaʿfar narrated to us, from ʿImrān Abū al-Hudhayl, who said that he heard Wahb ibn Munabbih say:
“It has reached us that Allah—exalted is He—said to Moses, peace be upon him: ‘O Moses, by My might and My majesty, had the soul you killed acknowledged Me for even the blink of an eye as its Creator or Sustainer, I would have made you taste punishment on its account. I have only pardoned you concerning it because that soul never acknowledged, not even for the blink of an eye, that I am its Creator or Sustainer.’”
٣٩٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ وَهْبَ بْنَ مُنَبِّهٍ يَقُولُ: " بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ اللَّهَ، (تعالى) قَالَ لِمُوسَى (عليه السلام): يَا مُوسَى، وَعِزَّتِي وَجَلَالِي، لَوْ أَنَّ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي قَتَلْتَ أَقَرَّتْ لِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ أَنِّي لَهَا خَالِقٌ أَوْ رَازِقٌ، لَأَذَقْتُكَ فِيهَا طَعْمَ الْعَذَابِ، وَإِنَّمَا عَفَوْتُ عَنْكَ أَمْرَهَا أَنَّهَا لَمْ تُقِرَّ لِي طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ أَنِّي لَهَا خَالِقٌ أَوْ رَازِقٌ "
