- ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; my father narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, from Hishām ibn Saʿd, from Zayd ibn Aslam, from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Yasār, who said:
“Moses—peace be upon him—asked, ‘My Lord, who are the servants of Yours whom You will shelter beneath the shade of Your Throne?’ He replied:
‘They are those whose hands are free of wrongdoing and whose hearts are pure; those who love one another for the sake of My majesty; those who, when I am mentioned, are remembered with Me, and when they are remembered, I am mentioned because of them; those who perfect their wuḍūʾ (ablution) even when it is difficult; who return eagerly to My remembrance as eagles return to their nests; who are wholly devoted to My love as a child clings to the people it loves; and who grow indignant for the sake of My sacred limits when they are violated, just as a leopard becomes enraged when it is cornered.’”
