- ʿAbdullāh narrated to us—my father narrated to me—Hāshim informed us—Ṣāliḥ informed us—from Abū ʿImrān al-Jawnī—from Abū al-Jald: that Allah, Exalted is He, revealed to David (peace be upon him):
“O David, warn My truthful servants: let them not be self-admiring, nor place their trust in their own deeds. For if I were to summon any one of My servants to account and exact My full justice from him, I would inevitably punish him—without wronging him in the least. And give glad tidings to the sinners that no sin is too great for Me to forgive and overlook.”
