- ʿAbdullāh narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Sayyār narrated to us; Jaʿfar informed us; al-Jurayrī said: “It has reached us that David—peace be upon him—asked Gabriel, ‘O Gabriel, which part of the night is the most excellent?’ He replied, ‘O David, I do not know—save that the Throne quivers during the pre-dawn moments (suḥur).’”
٣٦٥ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا سَيَّارٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ قَالَ: " بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ دَاوُدَ ﷺ سَأَلَ جِبْرِيلَ فَقَالَ: يَا جِبْرِيلُ، أَيُّ اللَّيْلِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: يَا دَاوُدُ مَا أَدْرِي، إِلَّا أَنَّ الْعَرْشَ يَهْتَزُّ مِنَ السَّحَرِ "
