- ʿAbdullāh narrated to us—he said: My father narrated to me; al-Walīd b. Muslim narrated to us; Ibn Jābir narrated to us, from Ismāʿīl b. ʿAbdullāh b. Abī al-Muhājir, that the Prophet David, peace be upon him, was often reproached for his abundant weeping, and he would reply, “Leave me to weep before the Day of Weeping—before the bones are burned and the beards are set ablaze; before I am delivered to stern, powerful angels who never disobey Allah in what He commands them and who unfailingly do as they are ordered.”
