- ʿAbdullāh narrated to us—he said: My father narrated to me; Abū al-Yamān informed us; Ibn ʿAyyāsh narrated to us—from ʿUmārah b. Ghaziyyah al-Anṣārī, who said that he heard Ḥumayd b. ʿUbayd, the client of Banū al-Muʿallā, say: I heard Thābit al-Bunānī relate from Anas b. Mālik that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Gabriel, peace be upon him, “Why is it that I have never seen Michael, peace be upon him, laugh?” He replied, “Michael has not laughed since the Fire was created.”
٣٥٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أبِي، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ حُمَيْدَ بْنَ عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي الْمُعَلَّى يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ ثَابِتًا الْبُنَانِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِجِبْرِيلَ (عليه السلام): «مَا لِي لَمْ أَرَ مِيكَائِيلَ (عليه السلام) ضَاحِكًا قَطُّ؟» قَالَ: «مَا ضَحِكَ مِيكَائِيلُ مُنْذُ خُلِقَتِ النَّارُ»
