ʿAbd Allāh related to us—Muhammad ibn ʿUbayd ibn Ḥisāb told us, Jaʿfar ibn Sulaymān informed us, Abu ʿImrān al-Jawni narrated, from Nawf al-Bikālī, who said:

“God revealed to the mountains, ‘I am going to descend upon one of you.’ Thereupon all the mountains lifted themselves in pride except Mount Ṭūr; it humbled itself, saying, ‘I am content with what God has apportioned for me.’ Thus the command was decreed for that mountain.”
