325. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Yaḥyā ibn Isḥāq narrated to us; Saʿīd ibn ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz informed me, on the authority of Makḥūl, who said:

Jesus the son of Mary once declared, “O company of disciples, which of you could build a house upon the rolling waves of the sea?”

They answered, “O Spirit of God, who could ever manage that?”

He replied, “Beware of the world, and do not treat it as a place of permanence.”
