- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; he said: my father narrated to us; Sufyān narrated to us, from Abū Shaybān, from Abū al-Hudhayl—if Allah wills—who said: Jesus met John—peace be upon them both—and said, “Advise me.” John replied, “Do not become angry.” Jesus said, “I am not able to do that.” John then said, “Then do not accumulate wealth.” Jesus responded, “As for that, perhaps I can.”
٣٢٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي شَيْبَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ، إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ قَالَ: لَقِيَ عِيسَى يَحْيَى (رحمه الله) فَقَالَ: «أَوْصِنِي» قَالَ: «لَا تَغْضَبْ» قَالَ: «لَا أَسْتَطِيعُ» قَالَ: «لَا تَقْتَنِ مَالًا» ، قَالَ: «أَمَّا هَذَا لَعَلَّهُ»
