- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us; Sufyān informed us, from Manṣūr, from Hilāl ibn Yasāf, who said:
Jesus—peace be upon him—used to say: “When one of you is fasting, let him oil his beard and wipe his lips, so that when he goes out among the people they will say, ‘He is not fasting.’”
٣١٦ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ قَالَ: كَانَ عِيسَى (عليه السلام) يَقُولُ: " إِذَا كَانَ صَوْمُ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلْيَدْهِنْ لِحْيَتَهُ، وَلْيَمْسَحْ شَفَتَيْهِ؛ حَتَّى يَخْرُجَ إِلَى النَّاسِ يَقُولُونَ: لَيْسَ بِصَائِمٍ "
