33 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Abū Muʿāwiyah narrated to us; ʿĀṣim al-Aḥwal narrated to us, from Muwarriq al-ʿIjlī, from Anas ibn Mālik, who said:
“We set out with the Prophet ﷺ on a journey; some of us were fasting while others were not. We halted on an intensely hot day, and the man with a cloak enjoyed the most shade, while some of us shielded ourselves from the sun with our own hands. The fasting men collapsed, whereas those who were not fasting remained on their feet: they pitched the tents and watered the mounts. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said, ‘Today the ones who broke their fast have carried off the reward.’”
