301. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us—my father narrated to us—Ibrāhīm ibn Khālid narrated to us—ʿUmar ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated: I heard Wahb ibn Munabbih say:

“Jesus son of Mary, peace be upon him, was once standing over a grave with the disciples—or, he said, with a group of his companions—while the deceased was being lowered into it. They spoke about the grave’s darkness, its desolation, and its confinement. Jesus, peace be upon him, said: ‘You were once in something even narrower than this, inside the wombs of your mothers; and whenever Allah, blessed and exalted, wills to expand it, He expands it.’”
