Al-ZuhdAhmad Ibn Hanbal
  1. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us—ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad ibn Abān ibn Ṣāliḥ ibn ʿUmayr narrated to us—Ibn al-Mubārak informed us—from Bakkār ibn ʿAbd Allāh, who said:

I heard Wahb ibn Munabbih say, “A devout man passed by another devout man and asked, ‘What is the matter with you?’ He replied, ‘I find myself amazed at So-and-so; he had reached great heights in worship, yet the world turned his head.’ The first said, ‘Do not marvel at the one who is swayed; rather, marvel at the one who remains steadfast.’”
