- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us—my father narrated to us—ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yazīd narrated to us—Mūsā, that is, Ibn ʿAlī, narrated to us; he said: I heard my father say:
It has reached me that Noah, peace be upon him, said to his son Sām:
“My son, never enter the grave while there remains in your heart so much as a speck’s weight of associating others with Allah, for whoever comes before Allah as a polytheist will have no plea.
My son, never enter the grave while there remains in your heart so much as a speck’s weight of arrogance, for grandeur is Allah’s cloak; whoever vies with Allah for His cloak incurs His anger.
My son, never enter the grave while there remains in your heart so much as a speck’s weight of despair, for none despairs of Allah’s mercy except the misguided.”
