- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us—Yaḥyā ibn Maʿīn narrated to us—Ḥajjāj narrated to us—Jarīr, meaning Ibn Ḥāzim, narrated to us. He said: Wuhaib al-Makkī narrated to me, saying:
“It has reached me that it is written in the Torah—or in one of the earlier scriptures: ‘O son of Adam, remember Me when you become angry and I shall remember you when I become angry; I will not wipe you out together with those whom I wipe out. And when you are wronged, be content with the victory I grant you, for My victory on your behalf is better than your own victory for yourself.’”
