- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father informed us; Abū Muʿāwiyah informed us; Hishām ibn ʿUrwah narrated to us from his father, who said:
“It is recorded in the Book of Wisdom: ‘My son, let your words be gracious and your face welcoming, and you will be dearer to people than the one who gives them material gifts.’
He also said: ‘It is written in the Book of Wisdom—or in the Torah—that gentleness is the crown of wisdom.’
And he said: ‘It is written in the Torah: As you show mercy, you shall be shown mercy; and as you sow, so shall you reap.’
And he said: ‘It is written in the Book of Wisdom: Love your friend and your father’s friend.’”
٢٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا أبِي، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: " مَكْتُوبٌ فِي الْحِكْمَةِ، بُنَيَّ، لِتَكُنْ كَلِمَتُكَ طَيِّبَةً، وَلْيَكُنْ وَجْهُكَ بَسِيطًا، تَكُنْ أَحَبَّ إِلَى النَّاسِ مِمَّنْ يُعْطِيهِمُ الْعَطَاءَ وَقَالَ: مَكْتُوبٌ فِي الْحِكْمَةِ، أَوْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ: الرِّفْقُ رَأْسُ الْحِكْمَةِ وَقَالَ: مَكْتُوبٌ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ: كَمَا تَرْحَمُونَ تُرْحَمُونَ، وَكَمَا تَزْرَعُونَ تَحْصُدُونَ، وَقَالَ: مَكْتُوبٌ فِي الْحِكْمَةِ: أَحِبَّ خَلِيلَكَ، وَخَلِيلَ أَبِيكَ "
