29 – ʿAbd Allāh related to us; my father related to me; ʿAbd al-Ṣamad related to us; Ḥammād ibn Salamah related to us; Saʿīd ibn Jumhān related to us, from Safīnah Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān:
A man once lodged with ʿAlī, who therefore prepared a meal for him. Fāṭimah—may Allah be pleased with her—said, “Why do we not invite the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to eat with us?” They invited him, and he came and placed his hands upon the two doorposts. He noticed a curtain in one corner of the house bearing an image, so he turned back. Fāṭimah said, “Let me catch up with him and ask him.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, “It is not for me—nor for any prophet—to enter a house that is adorned (with such images).”
٢٩ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُمْهَانَ، عَنْ سَفِينَةَ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا ضَافَ عَلِيًّا، فَصَنَعَ لَهُ طَعَامًا، فَقَالَتْ فَاطِمَةُ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا: لَوْ دَعَوْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَأَكَلَ مَعَنَا، فَدَعَوْهُ، فَجَاءَ فَوَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى عِضَادَتَيِ الْبَابِ، فَرَأَى قِرَامًا فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْبَيْتِ عَلَيْهِ صُورَةٌ، فَرَجَعَ، فَقَالَتْ أَلْحَقُهُ فَأَسْأَلُهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ لِي، أَوْ لِنَبِيٍّ، أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بَيْتًا مُزَوَّقًا»
