- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to us; Wakiʿ narrated to us; Sufyān narrated to us, from a man, from Mujāhid, regarding the verse, “Indeed, We granted Luqmān wisdom” (31:12). He said: “It was deep understanding of the religion and accuracy in speech, though he was not a prophet.”
٢٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، ﴿وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا لُقْمَانَ الْحِكْمَةَ﴾ [لقمان: ١٢] قَالَ: «الْفِقْهُ، وَالْإِصَابَةُ فِي الْقَوْلِ فِي غَيْرِ نُبُوَّةٍ»
