258. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad informed us; al-Masʿūdī narrated to us, from ʿAlqamah ibn Marthad, who said:

"If every single person on earth were to weep, their tears would still not match the tears David—peace be upon him—shed when he fell into error. And if the tears of all mankind were added to the tears of David—peace be upon him—they would still not equal the tears Adam—peace be upon him—shed when he was sent down from Paradise."
