257. ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd al-Aʿlā al-Baṣrī—also known as al-Ṣanʿānī—narrated to us; Muḥammad ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Maʿmar, from Manṣūr, from Ibrāhīm, who said:

“Showing gratitude to Him is to say, ‘In the name of Allah,’ when one begins to eat, and to praise Allah when one has finished.”
