- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to me; ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us; Abū Hilāl narrated to us; Bakr narrated:
When Adam, peace be upon him, was shown his descendants and noticed that some of them were favored above others, he said, “My Lord, why did You not make them equal?” Allah answered, “O Adam, I willed that I be thanked.”
٢٥٦ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أبِي، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِلَالٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرٌ قَالَ: لَمَّا عُرِضَ عَلَى آدَمَ (عليه السلام) ذُرِّيَّتُهُ فَرَأَى فَضْلَ بَعْضِهِمْ عَلَى بَعْضٍ قَالَ: «يَا رَبِّ، فَهَلَّا سَوَّيْتَ بَيْنَهُمْ؟» قَالَ: «يَا آدَمُ، إِنِّي أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أُشْكَرَ»
