- ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd narrated to us; Sulaymān—meaning al-Taymī—narrated from Abū ʿUthmān, from Salmān (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
When Allah, Exalted is He, created Adam, peace be upon him, He said: “One matter is Mine, one is yours, and one is shared between Me and you.
• What is Mine: you shall worship Me and never associate anything with Me.
• What is yours: for every deed you perform I shall reward you—for I forgive, and I am the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.
• And what is between Me and you: your part is to ask and supplicate, and My part is to answer and bestow.”
