27 – ʿAbd Allāh narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Rūḥ narrated to us; Saʿīd narrated to us, from Qatādah, from al-Ḥasan, from ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“I do not ride on mounts draped in purple brocade, I do not wear safflower-dyed garments, and I do not wear a shirt trimmed with silk.”

Al-Ḥasan then pointed to the collar of his own shirt and said, “Take note: the fragrance suitable for men is that which has a scent but no color, whereas the fragrance suitable for women is that which has a color but no scent.”
