- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Muḥammad al-Muḥāribī narrated to us; from ʿĀṣim; from al-Shaʿbī; from Masrūq—concerning the petitioner who says, “Where are those who are detached from this world and eager for the Hereafter?”—he replied, “I would not give him anything for saying that.” ʿĀṣim added, “It has reached me that Ibn ʿUmar heard a man utter those words, so he took him by the hand, stood him before the graves of the Prophet (Allah bless him and grant him peace) and of Abū Bakr and ʿUmar (may Allah be pleased with them), and said, ‘These are the ones you should be asking.’”
