- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Hāshim narrated to us; al-Mubārak narrated to us; from al-Ḥasan, who said:
ʿUmar ibn al-Khattāb said, “Recite the Book of Allah — exalted is He — and supplicate to Allah through it before there come people who will recite it only to ask others for what they want.”
٢٣٦٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ «اقْرَءُوا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ – Exalté soit-Il – وَسَلُوا اللَّهَ – Exalté soit-Il – بِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْرَأَهُ أَقْوَامٌ يَسْأَلُونَ بِهِ النَّاسَ»
