- ʿAbd Allah narrated to us; my father narrated to me; Hashim narrated to us; al-Mubarak narrated to us, from al-Hasan, who said:
A man from the Prophet’s Companions—one of their most distinguished—reproached another man by disparaging his mother while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was listening. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “By Him in Whose hand is my soul, you are not superior to anyone you behold, whether he be red or black, except if you excel them in taqwā (God-conscious piety).”
